Have you ever had that dream

so sad, that you cry

waking yourself up?

I had one last night

where we couldn't meet 

yet again

for many dream years

again and again.

In many surreal restaurants

under bizarre cielings,

I searched for you

only to find myself sipping alone -

the tea served for two.

I wandered the cloudy pavements

riddled with the embers of vestigial desires.

Centuries of dreamscapes

proliferating in a moment

and in every century, every moment -

Loneliness.

Only the dream, not even the dreamer.

I cried

Waking myself up to a life

much like dreams.

Tou ghar mein nahi rehti

Ghar bhi nahi rehta

Khisak sa jaata hai

Apni buniyadun se

Thehar nahi paata hai

Kai fariyadun se

Pata badal jaata hai -

Goya ek ghamgheen shehar hai

Shehar mein tareek ek mohalla

Mohalla ki ek awara sadak

Sadak ke kinare roshan siyah lamppost

Jiski roshni mein pareshan tum

Tum mein ek makaan baitha hai -

Tum Ghar mein rehti ho aur

Ghar tum mein rehta hai

تسلسل

تم اُداسی میں رہتی ہو

تو گھر میں نہیں رہتی

گھر بھی نہیں رہتا

کھسک سا جاتا ہے

اپنی بنیادوں سے

ٹھہر نہیں پاتا

کئی فریادوں سے

پتہ بدل جاتا ہے -

گویا ایک غمگین شہر ہے

شہر میں تاریک ایک محلہ

محلے کی ایک آوارہ سڑک 

سڑک کے کنارے روشن سیاہ لیمپ پوسٹ

جسکی روشنی میں پریشان تم

تم میں ایک مکان بیٹھا ہے -

تم گھر میں رہتی ہو اور

گھر تم میں رہتا ہے 

GRIEF

Every grieving vessel

weighs another down

sailing negligently

in the same water.

Grief descends like braille

upon the sightful earth,

it waves like neon moon

over a blind stream.
