Because You Once Said

It starts with an urge
to smoke
to drink
to write

I write a cigarette
l light a paper
I ink tea

Similes turn to ashes
metaphors brew
page dyes
I put the poem on ashtray
the cigarette boils foam
the tea smokes

With the poem burning
between my lips
I drink the cigarette
the tea smells poetry

Because you once said,
"Muzaffar! There are
more poetic things in the world"
